Job Title

The Taxpayer Services Division of the Property Records and Taxpayer Services Department is seeking a customer-focused professional who is well-suited to a collaborative, professional environment with periods of busy customer activity and steady workflow. As part of a supportive and dedicated team, you will play an important role in delivering high-quality service to the public. This position is primarily focused on providing in-person service at the customer counter. Responsibilities include assisting customers with a variety of transactions, such as property tax payment collections and the issuance of birth, death, and marriage records. This includes greeting and assisting customers at the service counter, processing mail-in requests, and ensuring accurate and efficient completion of transactions. The ideal candidate enjoys working directly with the public, provides friendly and respectful service, and is comfortable balancing busy customer service periods with time spent completing other important supporting tasks. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy are essential, along with the ability to remain organized and effective in a public service environment. In addition to counter service responsibilities, this position supports division operations by completing assigned or self-directed tasks during slower periods, demonstrating flexibility, initiative, and a strong team-oriented mindset.

Desirable Experience

Experience providing customer service in a public-facing or similar environment involving direct interaction with the public (government experience is helpful but not required)

Experience handling payments or transactions, including receiving payments, issuing receipts, and balancing a cash drawer or daily transactions

Experience performing work requiring accuracy in data entry, transaction processing, or review of information for errors

Experience using computer systems or web-based applications to enter information, process transactions, or retrieve customer records

Selection Technique

Your training and experience will be rated based on the required application material submitted and the top-scoring candidates will be forwarded to the hiring department for further consideration.

Hours / Days

This is a 40 hour per week position, with work hours scheduled Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Additional hours may be required during peak work periods. Work schedules and locations are subject to change based on departmental needs and are not guaranteed.

Anticipated Hiring Rate

$21.53 - $22.79 Hourly (May be hired at the Taxpayer Services Technician, Senior level depending on qualifications)

Employment Criteria

Minimum Qualifications: Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent. Prior experience with customer service, financial reporting, and database management is preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Respond to customer inquiries for various legal document related processes and services.
2. Make referrals to other departments as necessary.
3. Answer phone call inquiries by providing information or directing calls.
4. Review and process legal documents, applications, and forms for accuracy and completeness.
5. Research, analyze and verify records, reports, applications and other documents.
6. Conduct searches or communicate with representative's other divisions or government agencies.
7. Adheres to statutes, laws, and regulations; clarify interpretations of statutes laws, and regulations.
8. Collects, enters, scans, proofs, edits, corrects and verifies data in computer systems with or without established procedures or computer application.
9. Processes, sorts, checks for accuracy, and files department materials, i.e., forms, reports, licenses, certificates, deeds, applications, orders, vouchers, documents, legal instruments, or other materials in accordance with established routine and policy.
10. Process transactions, collect fees and process overpayments.
11. Collects and records a variety of receipts and disbursements for various funds.
12. Compiles data and calculates various financial statistical reports.
13. Prepares memos, correspondence, forms, statistical data, reports; proofs for accuracy and makes corrections.
14. Processes incoming and outgoing mail.
15. Prepares, maintains and files records.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential functions: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is sedentary (sitting and/or standing) in nature performed within the Government Center or satellite offices. Lifting requirement of 15 - 20 pounds on an occasional basis. Work may require assisted lifting of equipment up to 80 pounds. Wrist and finger manipulation due to filing, compiling, calculating, or computer work. Equipment used may include, but is not limited to, computer, calculator, telephone, copy, cash register, microfiche and fax machine, and bar code machine. Additional physical/mental requirements that occur may not be listed above, but are inherent in performing the position's essential functions.
