Dermatology Branch Investigator, NIH/NIAMS

The National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) Intramural Research Program (IRP) in the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is recruiting a tenure-track/tenure-eligible Investigator (High Scarcity) in the Dermatology Branch (DB) on the NIH main campus in Bethesda, Maryland.

NIAMS IRP seeks to hire a tenure-track/tenure-eligible Investigator to develop a vigorous, independent program focused on research in Dermatology and/or Skin Biology within the operationally integrated and mission-focused Dermatology Branch. Applicants must have an M.D., Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant field with postdoctoral experience and a publication record demonstrating strong potential for creative, independent research. The ideal candidate should have research expertise in Dermatology and/or Skin Biology. Preference will be given to ABD-certified/eligible dermatologists holding an unrestricted U.S. medical license. The hired investigator will be expected to develop and lead an impactful research program related to cutaneous biology or skin disease. The successful candidate will benefit from the highly collaborative environment of the NIH IRP, especially by working with DB investigators who conduct basic, translational, and clinical research on skin cancer, skin stem cells, the cutaneous microbiome, inflammatory and infectious skin diseases, and other skin diseases in patients with immune deficiency syndromes. Clinicians will have the opportunity to contribute to the clinical mission of the DB in the NIH Clinical Center.

The successful candidate will have access to state-of-the-art core research facilities and the NIH Clinical Center, a premier research hospital on the main NIH campus. Hired investigators are assigned generous independent resources, including laboratory support personnel, equipment, space, and an annual budget for services, supplies, and salaries sufficient to foster success.

Salary will be commensurate with research experience and accomplishments. A full Civil Service benefits package (including retirement, health insurance, paid leave, career support, work-life and commuter benefits, and optional life and long-term care insurance) is available. Relocation expenses will be offered to eligible individuals.
