Welding Inspector
Location: Salt Lake City, UT Type: Direct Hire Compensation: $66,000.00 - $93,000.00 Work Model: Onsite – onsite
Responsibilities
- Inspect, test, and verify welded car bodies to confirm they meet quality standards and industry specifications.
- Perform hold point and in-process inspections of welded joints.
- Create, complete, and properly file all inspection documents.
- Coordinate and plan inspections with production team leads and resident inspectors.
- Support quality control processes, including recording and resolving non-conformities.
- Perform non-destructive testing (VT, PT) as required and document findings.
- Carry out dimensional inspections and verify documentation for components and final products.
- Perform visual testing, with dye penetrant certification preferred.
- Use measuring instruments correctly, monitor calibration status, and ensure proper instrument preservation.
- Support production stoppages if non-conformities affecting quality are detected.
- Conduct weighing and in-process measurements of car bodies and components.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- ISO 9712 Level I VT/PT or ASNT Level I VT/PT certification preferred.
- ISO 9712 Level II VT/PT or ASNT Level II VT/PT certification preferred.
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification preferred.
- 2+ years of relevant professional experience.
