Accounting Assistant

Northern State University is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to support operations within the finance department. This role assists with purchasing, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and campus-wide training on purchasing systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with purchase orders, requisitions, and vendor coordination
• Process invoices and resolve discrepancies
• Track expenditures and maintain financial records
• Support AP/AR and monthly credit card reconciliations
• Assist with journal vouchers and financial reporting
• Train faculty/staff on the state's purchasing system
• Ensure purchases comply with state laws and institutional policies

Qualifications:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred
• 1–3 years of relevant experience in purchasing or finance
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
