Our responsibilities encompass operating and performing operational, intermediate, and depot‑level maintenance for aerial and seaborne assets in support of weapon systems test and evaluation and fleet training exercises. We manage all stages of aerial and seaborne target assets’ operational progression from initial inspection and configuration through deployment, return and post‑operation maintenance and repair. We provide management, scheduling and execution of aerial and seaborne target operations; operation and maintenance of target recovery vessels (Aerial Vehicle Recovery [AVRs]); asset maintenance and depot repair; depot engineering assistance; recovery of aerial and seaborne assets; inventory management; and management of government‑furnished facilities, materials, vehicles and equipment. SA-TECH personnel perform COTS to Remote Control conversion to meet PMS‑325 production goals for the Seaborne Targets Externally Directed Team (STEDT). We also provide target control system operation and management, and set‑up, test and operation of assets for System for Naval Target Control (SNTC) and Portable Command and Control Unit (PCCU) support at local and deployed locations. SA-TECH is currently hiring an Electronics Technician, Maintenance I to perform various electronics and avionics tasks on aerial target systems and subsystems (BQM‑34, BQM‑177, or BQM‑74 Targets) at Naval Base Ventura County, Point Mugu, CA and other designated aerial target operating sites. The Electronics Technician Maintenance I applies basic technical knowledge to perform simple or routine tasks following detailed instructions, replaces components, wires circuits, repairs simple electronic equipment, and takes test readings using common instruments such as digital multi‑meters, signal generators, semiconductor testers, curve tracers, and oscilloscopes. This person works under close supervision and receives technical guidance from a supervisor or higher-level technician. Work is checked frequently for accuracy. Under limited supervision, applies technical working knowledge to perform tasks on various types of electronics and avionics work on aerial target systems and subsystems. Assists higher-level technicians or assumes lead positions in activities such as build‑up or replacing aerial target components, wiring harnesses/circuits, troubleshooting systems and subsystems. Repairs simple electronic equipment using tools and common test equipment, and receives technical guidance from a supervisor or higher-level technicians. Maintains equipment logs, maintenance action forms and work‑time tracking sheets. Works with small CADs (pyrotechnic devices) and target-specific rocket motors (JATO). Learn aerial target launch pad evolutions at Pt. Mugu and deployed sites. Work Conditions Work conditions vary; most work is accomplished in enclosed buildings. Work on the range throughout the year; temperatures will vary. Travel is required. Work activities include 45% standing, 25% walking, 20% sitting, 5% reaching, and 5% lifting. Must be capable of lifting 50–100 pounds assisted by other employees. Position requires following OSHA and Navy mandated safety guidelines with periods of use for safety glasses, outdoor respirator, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, and possible forklift license. Requires specific driver’s license or operator qualifications for target-specific support. Requirements Education/Experience/Skills: High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in performing systems Operations & Maintenance (4790 Maintenance experience desired). Strong basic avionics/electronics work; uses hand tools, power tools, and engine and electronics test equipment. Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications. Computer / Networking; MS Office. Knowledgeable in testing systems and components to ensure functionality per NAVAIR manuals using specified test equipment. Ability to pass an Industrial I FAA Class 3 or comparable physical (such as a commercial driver license physical). Current driver’s license required; must be insured through company’s vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours and for the duration of employment. U.S. citizenship required; must obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to start date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment. All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, driver record, and criminal background investigation.
