This part-time position assists the Director in guiding young performers through the rehearsal and performance process, helping to create a positive, structured, and confidence-building theatre experience./ppThe Directors Assistant plays a key role in reinforcing direction, supporting classroom management, and ensuring rehearsals run smoothly for elementary-aged students. Kids productions are casts of approximately 25 students ages 7-11./ph3Key Responsibilities/h3pRehearsal Support/pulliAssist the Director during rehearsals by reinforcing blocking, choreography, music, and staging./liliHelp manage transitions between activities to maintain focus and engagement./liliSupport small-group rehearsals as needed./liliTake basic blocking and rehearsal notes./liliHelp distribute scripts and rehearsal materials./li/ulpStudent Engagement Classroom Management/pulliModel respectful, enthusiastic, and professional behavior./liliHelp maintain a structured, inclusive, and supportive rehearsal environment./liliEncourage participation and positive ensemble behavior./liliProvide gentle redirection and age-appropriate behavioral support./liliAssist students with memorization, stage directions, and performance readiness./li/ulpProduction Support/pulliAssist with organizing props, costumes, and simple set pieces./liliSupport technical rehearsals and performances as assigned./liliCoordinate backstage operations during technical rehearsals and performances./liliHelp supervise backstage areas during performances./liliEnsure students are prepared and in place for entrances./li/ulpCommunication Collaboration/pulliWork closely with the Director and production team to support artistic goals./liliCommunicate student needs or concerns to program leadership./liliAssist with attendance tracking and basic documentation./li/ulh3Qualifications/h3pRequired:/pulliExperience working with elementary-aged children./liliBackground in theatre, performing arts, or arts education./liliStrong communication and organizational skills./liliAbility to work collaboratively and take direction./liliPatient, energetic, and dependable./li/ulpPreferred:/pulliPrevious experience assisting with youth theatre productions./liliExperience in classroom, camp, or arts program settings./liliBasic understanding of staging, blocking, and rehearsal processes./li/ulpIdeal Candidate/ppThe ideal candidate is enthusiastic, nurturing, and highly organized.
