Technology Support Specialist

Job Summary Under minimal supervision, provides timely support to end-users through the Service Desk, fostering an environment of collaboration and strong customer service. Supports technology needs within instructional, office, and meeting spaces, maintains all networked technology across the College, and ensures proper function of all computer hardware and software. Key Responsibilities Resolve assigned computer hardware and software problems in a timely manner (remotely, on-site, or over the phone). Install, configure, and maintain client hardware, software, networking, and telecommunications. Configure student loaner laptops; image, configure, and upgrade teacher workstations. Configure and support mobile devices – Apple support, iPad, and Apple phone. Complete basic network outlet testing and configuration to support network devices. Troubleshoot VOIP equipment issues. Maintain documentation related to specialized procedures, applications, or system configurations. Maintain accurate and timely inventory of hardware and software assets within the Service Desk. Research and recommend implementation of new technology products and techniques. Assist with the implementation of new IT initiatives across campus. Travel to other College campuses for IT support as needed. Complete all other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Associate Degree in Computer Science or a related field; five (5) years of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida driver license. Knowledge of AV technologies and teleconference systems. Knowledge of computer networking technologies, installation, configuration, and troubleshooting. Knowledge and use of Active Directory, Cisco Switch networking, and port activation processes. Skills in organization, time‑management, prioritizing, problem solving, and effective use of resources. Skills in working with Apple iOS, Microsoft Office, and Windows‑based applications such as Workday. Ability to gather and analyze information, be patient, accurate and detailed, operate in a fast‑paced environment, and work independently as well as with others. Ability to provide support to end‑users through the Service Desk and communicate technical information to a non‑technical audience. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience and education. Open until filled. Physical Demands Medium work involving lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Additional Expectations Possess skills or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently.
