Integration Engineer

Job Summary:

The NC FAST Integration Engineer is a senior technical role responsible for designing, developing, and supporting data integration solutions using IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE), MuleSoft, and related technologies. This position involves creating real-time, batch, and scheduled data interfaces to connect internal and external systems, ensuring seamless data flow and system interoperability within the NC Department of Health and Human Services. The engineer will manage multiple technical and business efforts, from requirements gathering through post-implementation support. Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and implement integration solutions using IBM ACE, MuleSoft, or Boomi.
• Create and maintain real-time, on-demand, batch, and scheduled data interfaces and APIs.
• Gather requirements and collaborate with business and technical teams to design effective integration strategies.
• Support go-live activities and provide post-implementation troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Develop and manage enterprise integration patterns, including REST/SOAP web services, JMS, MQ, XML, and JSON.
• Deploy and manage containerized applications using Kubernetes and cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
• Utilize CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools to automate integration development and deployment processes.
• Perform data modeling, OLAP design, and ETL process development for data cleansing and refreshes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of integration solutions.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Minimum 7 years of experience in integration engineering, including API and ETL development.
• Strong hands-on expertise with IBM Integration Bus (IIB)/App Connect Enterprise (ACE) and/or MuleSoft or Boomi.
• Proficiency in Java and/or Python programming languages.
• Experience with enterprise integration patterns, REST/SOAP web services, JMS, MQ, XML, JSON, and API development.
• Hands-on experience with container orchestration using Kubernetes.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Microsoft Azure.
• Strong understanding of system integration, enterprise architecture principles, scalability, and high availability.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and version control tools like Git.
• Experience with databases, PL/SQL, and Linux environments.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience designing and developing integration solutions specifically using MuleSoft.
• Familiarity with integrator/deployment tools such as TeamCity, Ant/Maven, and SCM tools like Bitbucket.
• Experience with testing automation tools such as TOSCA and Selenium.
• Hands-on experience with AWS-based tools and technologies.
• Proficiency in programming languages beyond Java and Python.

Special Considerations:

• All work must be performed on state premises.
• Absences longer than two weeks require prior approval and must include reachable contact information.

• Work schedule and shifts will be determined based on state premises requirements and project needs, typically standard business hours.
