Pharmacy Inventory Assistant

PrideStaff is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Pharmacy and Inventory Assistant to support a growing team for a specialty veterinary hospital local to Bend. To start, this role will primarily focus on stocking the inventory room and helping distribute filled medications to the medical staff. Your attention to detail, strong organizational skills, commitment to animal welfare, and strict adherence to security protocols, especially for controlled medications, will contribute to providing top-notch veterinary care.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor medication inventory levels, anticipate needs, and place orders for supplies to maintain a well-stocked pharmacy while minimizing waste.
• Receive and process prescription orders from veterinarians and support staff, ensuring clarity and completeness, and contact veterinarians for clarification if necessary.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of medication dispensing, dosages, patient information, and any communication with veterinarians regarding prescriptions.
• Adhere to pharmacy laws, regulations, and safety standards, strictly follow security protocols for controlled medications, and perform routine checks to prevent errors.
• Work closely with the healthcare team to ensure coordinated patient care and keep the pharmacy area clean, organized, and compliant with hygiene and safety standards.

Qualifications & Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required; completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician training program or a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPHT) designation is preferred.
• Experience in a veterinary pharmacy setting or a human pharmacy with a strong interest in veterinary medicine is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in accurately measuring and counting medications, strong attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills for interactions with clients and the healthcare team.
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical and veterinary terminology, pharmacy software, and record-keeping systems.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and composure.
