Description:
Ratios are 2 LPNs per shift.
One LPN will be responsible for memory care (15 beds) and another for skilled care (15 beds).
They will split assisted living (20 beds) with a maximum of 25 beds in total.
The goal is to have three LPNs per shift during the day.
The patient population includes individuals with various diagnoses such as CHF, HTN, DM, old strokes, Alzheimer's, and Dementia.
Job duties include administering tube feedings, blood sugars, insulin, vaccinations, and medications via PO, SQ, and IM routes.
Skin assessments are also part of the responsibilities.
The director manages admissions.
There are no discharges as residents stay for life.
Common nursing tasks involve providing the best care possible to residents.
Experience with IV antibiotics is very rare.
There are charge nurses and assistant supervisors who are RNs overseeing the building.
There may be a supervisor on each shift or via overlap.
Communication between shifts is essential for continuity of care.
Nurse aides are present on the unit to assist.
Equipment used includes O2 and CPAP.
There are no trach or chronic vents.
Breathing treatments and inhalers are utilized.
Shifts are typically 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, and 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM.
A rotating schedule is followed with flexibility expected for vacations or other leave.
Weekend requirements are every other weekend.
Floating to other units is expected and requires training.
Solid color scrubs are required.
Tattoos must not be offensive or visible on the face and neck.
No facial piercings are allowed.
Smoking is prohibited on the premises.
Earbuds and personal phones cannot be used in patient care areas.
Breaks are provided.
