Job Responsibilities Embalming and Preparation Performs responsibilities of Embalmer and Cosmetologist; may have crematory responsibilities. Maintains a clean, stocked, and compliant preparation room, cleans soiled equipment and hazardous material spills, ensures hazardous materials are handled according to Material Data Safety Sheets, inventories and orders supplies, requests Care Center and Crematory equipment maintenance and repair, and escalates equipment replacement to management. Quality Control and Training Inspects deceased at various preparation stages to ensure results meet the family’s expectations. Collaborates with Learning & Development on training needs, develops job aids and procedure checklists, and executes and participates in various training activities. Trains the team on a safe working environment and procedures, retrains staff to ensure compliance with corporate, federal, state, local regulations, including OSHA and Safety and Environmental guidelines. Supervision Oversees day‑to‑day Care Center operations, develops work schedules, delegates assignments, and communicates priorities and expectations. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures, including embalming, transporting, removals, dispatching. People Development Builds a strong, trusting, and reliable team, understands career aspirations, assigns tasks to develop skills, addresses issues constructively, provides appropriate feedback. Applies a proactive and collaborative management style to increase employee engagement and minimize turnover. Monitors training and licensing requirements to ensure staff is re‑trained/licensed before expiration. Coordinates staff work and time‑off schedules for coverage. Screens candidates, hires or promotes skilled staff, and recommends pay increases, special pays, and career advancements. Education, Experience & Minimum Requirements Education State specific required diploma or accreditation. Certification/License Holds and maintains any State specific licensing and/or certifications. Valid State Driver’s License. Experience At least five (5) years of funeral home, care center and/or decedent care preparation. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Demonstrates a high level of skill, personal attributes, and abilities recognized by peers and management. Sets the standards for quality, teamwork, and productivity required for a high‑volume Personal Care Center. Knowledge of computers and software, including MS Office, is required. Ability to work independently and as a team, prioritize, organize, and pay attention to detail. High level of compassion and integrity. Effective communication, training, and problem‑solving skills. Strong written and oral communication. Work Conditions Work Environment Work indoors and outdoors in all seasons and weather conditions. Limited local or multiple location traveling required. Professional dress required when in contact with families; uniforms may be required in some locations. Work Postures Frequent, continuous standing up to 8 hours per day. Sitting continuously for many hours up to 6 hours per day. Kneeling, reaching, and bending to move and arrange materials. Climbing stairs frequently to access buildings. Physical Demands Physical effort requiring manual dexterity is required. Carrying and/or lifting materials up to 100 pounds with assistance. Pushing or pulling up to 300 pounds on a wheeled table or stretcher. Work Hours Working beyond standard hours as needed. #J-18808-Ljbffr Service Corporation International
