Key Responsibilities
- Administer ionizing radiation and radioactive substances to patients under the supervision of a Radiation Oncologist and in accordance with New York State Department of Health Code Part 16 guidelines.
- Accurately enter and maintain patient treatment parameters into the electronic medical record and interpret computerized treatment plans.
- Observe patients daily for reactions and immediately report any adverse reactions to the Radiation Oncology Nurse or Radiation Oncologist.
- Operate high-voltage machinery safely and accurately, and communicate equipment malfunctions to pertinent personnel.
- Facilitate complex problem solving regarding technical issues related to radiation therapy equipment and treatment delivery.
- Adhere to NYSDOH, ARRT, and ACRO radiation safety protocols while maintaining professional conduct essential to patient well-being.
Required Qualifications
- Active New York State Radiation Therapist license (may be obtained during onboarding).
- ARRT certification in Radiation Therapy.
- Completion of an AMA-approved Radiation Therapy Technology training program.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Radiation Therapist.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Hands-on experience operating Varian TrueBeam and/or Varian 21iX linear accelerators.
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems used in a radiation oncology setting.
