Job Details Job Title: School Psychologist Intern Starting Date: Aug 13, 2026 Position Type: Full-Time Salary: $47,941 per year Contract: 192 Days FLSA Status: Exempt Supervisor: Special Education Directors Location: Medford, Oregon (Medford SD 549C) Job ID: 5483632 Job Description In partnership with the Medford School District and under the supervision of a site or field supervisor, the intern will carry out job responsibilities and fulfill internship requirements as specified by the post‑secondary institution. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist and/or provide counseling, instruction and mentoring for students struggling with social, emotional and behavioral problems under supervision. Participate as a member of the multidisciplinary team in assessment, identification, evaluation and placement of students into special education programs. Act as a crisis team member and provide crisis intervention for students and staff in the event of sudden illness or injury. Collaborate to support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral health. Assist with identifying learning and behavior problems that interfere with school success. Assist with implementing school‑wide prevention programs to maintain positive school climates. Assist with increasing achievement by assessing barriers to learning and determining best instructional strategies. Professional Preparedness and Growth Internship experience aligned with NASP, providing experience in diverse school settings. Principles of Teaching and Learning Identify and resolve academic barriers to learning. Design and implement student progress monitoring systems. Design and implement academic and behavior interventions. Support effective individualized instruction. Motivate students to engage in learning. Multi‑Ethnic/Multi‑Cultural Education Appreciate cultural diversity and communicate with sensitivity to all persons. Evaluation & Communication Skills Participate in faculty and department meetings, and support the planning, budgeting, implementation, and evaluation of school programs. Facilitate communication between the school, families, community health agencies, and private medical sector. Maintain communication with administrators, teachers, staff, and parents to meet health and safety needs. Suggest referrals and coordinate community support. Organizational & Marginal Duties Assist with data collection and analysis for school improvement and accountability. Help design, implement, and gain support for comprehensive school mental health programming. Promote wellness and resilience through communication, social skills, problem solving, anger management, self‑regulation, self‑determination, and optimism. Respond to crises and coordinate needed community services. Teach parenting skills and enhance home‑school collaboration. Supervisory Responsibilities All district employees supervise students and help maintain a safe environment. Qualifications Education and/or Experience: A Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interact appropriately with teachers, staff, community members, and students; focus on conflict resolution, confidentiality, and team building. Mathematical Skills: Ability to handle basic mathematics for practical situations. Computer Skills: Proficiency in database software, email, internet, spreadsheets, teaching software, and word processing. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Complete applicable internship requirements as specified by the post‑secondary institution’s Master’s level program. Reasoning Ability: Apply common sense to follow written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions and solve standardized problems. Language Skills: Fluent in English (written and verbal). Preference for bilingual English/Spanish applicants; ability to present information and respond effectively to students and staff. Physical Demands Stamina for 8 hours of instruction and supervision. Use of hands for repetitive motions. Standing/Walking 3–6 hours/day; Sitting 2–4 hours/day. Occasional bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing stairs or ladders. Lift/carry up to 40 lb. Occasional physical interaction with students as required by law. Requires near‑vision (20 inches) and distance vision (20 feet). Clear peripheral vision. Clear speech; ability to recognize others’ speech. Emotional stability under pressure. Work Environment Low to moderate noise level; exposure potential to bloodborne pathogens; temperature fluctuations, fumes, odors, and dust.
