Material Handler

This role focuses on organizing, transporting, and staging production materials to support manufacturing operations. You will drive a box truck between buildings, load and unload material containers, and ensure production operators have the correct materials at the right time. The position involves working both indoors and outdoors, including time in a highly automated cleanroom environment that requires full personal protective equipment.

Responsibilities

• Organize, stage, and manage production materials to ensure operators have the correct materials available on time.
• Drive transport vehicles, including a box truck and golf cart, safely between buildings and throughout the worksite.
• Load and unload material containers, including securely loading and securing carts in the transport vehicle.
• Transfer material boxes from inventory locations to transport carts, including bending, stooping, squatting, lifting, and reaching as needed.
• Push, pull, and guide transport carts through doorways, hallways, and loading docks, including carts weighing up to approximately 500 pounds.
• Move, lift, carry, and transport material boxes containing polysilicon wafers weighing approximately 5 to 30 pounds each.
• Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects as part of daily duties.
• Cut open, lift, and move material storage boxes multiple times per shift, and wrap pallets and move them safely using a pallet jack.
• Open cartons, unpack materials, and transfer materials from cartons to carts to prepare for processing.
• Stand and walk for extended periods and work shifts of up to 12 hours as needed.
• Work around hazardous and volatile materials while following all safety and handling procedures.
• Determine material quantities needed for production and transfer those quantities to predetermined locations.
• Review work orders, load materials onto the appropriate tool sets, and load the correct recipes according to customer specifications.
• Perform daily calibrations for each process tool and verify that all calibration data meets process specifications before releasing tools to production.
• Continuously monitor, analyze, and verify that all process data and conditions meet quality specifications before moving materials to the next process step.
• Operate robotic equipment to lift, unload, raise, lower, and transport materials, products, and equipment.
• Use effective time management to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail and organization.
• Use a computer to electronically move and track materials, input data, and create reports as needed.
• Complete computerized forms and labels for each tool and submit requests for delivery of materials and equipment according to work orders and schedule requirements.
• Use email and Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, to support documentation and communication.
• Prepare, analyze, and interpret data, perform extensive reading, and visually inspect small parts for errors, defects, and fabrication issues.
• Follow all documented training, procedures, and processes to meet established quality standards.
• Report and act to prevent variations, errors, or lapses in quality and help ensure that issues are corrected and not repeated.
• Identify and communicate suggestions for process or quality improvement to supervisors or appropriate leaders.
• Complete all tasks using safe work practices and consistently place safety ahead of deadlines or other goals.
• Act as a safety role model with co-workers and remain highly cautious when working near moving mechanical parts.
• Communicate effectively in English with management and co-workers, both verbally and in writing.
• Read, understand, and explain instructions, procedures, technical manuals, informational documents, reports, and correspondence written in English.
• Work flexible 8-hour evening or night shifts starting between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., with occasional overtime as required.
• Rotate among multiple process areas within the department after cross-training and certification.

Essential Skills

• Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Ability to safely drive transport vehicles, including a box truck and golf cart, and back vehicles into tight spaces.
• Capability to move, lift, carry, and transport material boxes weighing approximately 5 to 30 pounds each.
• Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
• Ability to push carts on wheels weighing approximately 20 pounds and occasionally up to approximately 500 pounds.
• Comfort with frequent bending, stooping, squatting, lifting, reaching, and standing or walking for extended periods, including shifts up to 12 hours.
• Ability to work around hazardous and volatile materials while following strict safety procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and organization in a multitasking environment.
• Basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and compute percentages and decimals using a calculator.
• Ability to use a computer for data entry, material tracking, and report creation.
• Familiarity with email and Microsoft Office programs such as Excel.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to create, read, comprehend, and explain instructions, procedures, technical and informational manuals, reports, and correspondence in English.
• Commitment to following documented training, procedures, and processes to meet quality standards.
• Strong safety mindset with the ability to consistently prioritize safe behaviors over speed or deadlines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in warehouse, inventory, or material handling environments.
• Background in driving roles involving box trucks or similar transport vehicles.
• Experience working in production, manufacturing, or cleanroom environments.
• Comfort operating robotic equipment and automated tools after training.
• Experience with data entry and electronic tracking of materials.
• Ability to identify and report process or quality improvement opportunities.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills in a fast-paced setting.

Work Environment

The work environment combines a highly automated cleanroom setting with warehouse and outdoor staging areas. Part of the day is spent in a cleanroom where you will wear full personal protective equipment, including a hooded cleanroom suit (bunny suit), hairnet and/or beard net, safety glasses, face mask, nylon or nitrile gloves, and potentially a chemical apron. The cleanroom environment is controlled and requires strict adherence to procedures and cleanliness standards. Other parts of the day are spent outside the cleanroom in staging areas, on loading docks, and in a box truck driving between buildings. The role involves frequent standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, and working around moving mechanical parts and hazardous materials, with safety practices and protective equipment consistently in use.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vancouver, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
