Surgical Assistant - OR

The Surgical Assistant plays a vital role in the perioperative team, supporting surgeons by assisting as a first or second technician or circulator under RN supervision. Key responsibilities include maintaining a sterile environment through asepsis, assisting with surgical procedures, managing supplies and equipment, and ensuring patient safety. They perform scrubbing duties, aid in patient positioning, and handle sterilization processes. Ideal candidates have an Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology or a related certification, with at least 2 years of OR scrub experience . Required certifications include BLS and either CSA , Licensed Surgical Assistant , or CST . Skills in anatomy, physiology, aseptic techniques, and assisting during various surgical tasks such as suctioning, tying, and retracting are essential.
