Registered Nurse - Infusion Center - 24 Hour/Week - Days

Job Summary Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center Infusion Center – Location: Methodist Hospital, 8303 Dodge St., Omaha, NE. Work Schedule: Mon‑Fri. 40 hours per week with shifts between 0700‑1700. Responsibilities Provide age‑appropriate care to patients, ensuring understanding and comfort according to Population Specific Criteria. Identify and deliver individualized customer service and patient care based on patient needs. Perform initial and ongoing assessments to determine nursing care needs. Include data from patient and significant others in assessments when appropriate. Prioritize data collection based on immediate patient needs. Use assessment findings in discharge planning. Develop, review, and individualize care plans to address patient needs for optimal outcomes. Collaborate with providers and other clinical disciplines. Provide patient‑specific teaching and explain health care issues. Ensure care plans reflect ongoing needs and referrals for discharge or transfer. Implement interventions consistent with the established care plan safely. Follow nursing protocols and unit standards of care. Apply current knowledge and research to nursing practice. Evaluate patient responses to interventions for optimal outcomes. Monitor outcomes and document patient responses. Assess patient and family capabilities and limitations. Communicate effectively using SBAR and ensure clear hand‑off reports. Recognize and address patient and family limitations (physical and mental). Perform technical skills competently and independently to ensure patient safety. Continuously learn new skills, equipment, and procedures within specified timeframes. Maintain professional behavior and appearance to support the organization’s mission. Communicate solutions to problems at personal and unit level. Participate in unit and organization meetings or committees as needed. Identify and correct risks to patients, families, or staff. Complete appropriate risk reports (e.g., incident or variance reports). Report unresolved issues to appropriate personnel. Work within the scope of practice defined by the State Nurse Practice Act. Observe precautions when administering hazardous medications. Delegate and evaluate staff utilization in accordance with practice standards. Apply the “Right Task, Right Person, Right Communication” framework. Maintain financial accountability and charge supplies accurately. Schedule Monday‑Friday, 40 hours per week. Clinic open 0700‑1700. Shifts fall within those times. Job Requirements Education Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited college required. Nurses with an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) must obtain a BSN or MSN within 5 years of hire. Successful completion of annual mandatory education requirements. Graduate of an accredited nursing school required. Experience Six months experience on a floor prior to administering chemotherapy required. License/Certifications Current valid Nebraska Registered Nurse (RN) License, valid compact multistate license, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at hire; required within 3 months of hire. ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate Course required within 1 year of hire. Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred. Skills/Knowledge/Abilities Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients, families, and staff. Independent work ability with excellent organizational and problem‑solving skills. Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments. Ability to learn, retain, and use required computer skills for department and hospital information systems. Physical Requirements Medium work: Exert up to 50 pounds. Physical activities include: climbing, crawling, kneeling, sitting, balancing, carrying, crouching, distinguishing colors, typing, lifting, pulling/pushing, repetitive motions, stooping/bending, twisting, grasping, hearing, reaching, seeing, speaking, standing, walking. Job Hazards Electrical shock/ static — not related. Rare (1‑33%): Radiation (alpha, beta, gamma, non‑ionizing), and other rare hazards. Occasional (34‑66%): Noise, temperature, lighting, wet floors, sharps, equipment, explosives, hazardous drugs. Frequent (67‑100%): Chemical agents, biological agents, mechanical vibrations.
