POSITION PURPOSE :
This position is responsible for the daily processing of Individual/Group remittance premium and claim refund payments in which checks are deposited daily ensuring payments post to member's accounts accurately.
Accountable for complying with all laws and regulations associated with duties and responsibilities.

This position reports to the Supervisor, Accounts Receivable.

This position has no reports.
Necessary Contacts :
In order to effectively fulfill this position, the incumbent must be in contact with:
Enrollment & Billing, Claims and Customer Service, district offices, financial institutions, healthcare facilities, and external customers as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS :
High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree in Accounting, Business, or business-related field preferred.
One year of accounts receivable or accounting experience preferred.
Strong mathematical and analytical reasoning skills are required.
Must be proficient in 10-key data entry. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and other applications are required.
ACCOUNTABILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
Processes all premium and claim refund receipts received daily to meet the scheduled time frame for compiling, balancing, encoding and endorsing of all checks for bank deposits.
Responsible for ensuring that all premium receipts received daily through the bank lockbox process or electronic payment files are posted daily to Individual member/Group accounts accurately. Ensures that any receipts not posted are manually posted and deposited.
Assigns voucher numbers, process and deposit refund checks received from providers and members for Blue Benefit Services, Federal Employees Program, Interplan Teleprocessing Services, Office of Group Benefits and Special Claims.
Performs account research to obtain current or prior payment history of premium receipts for accurate information to reconcile each account.
Responsible for balancing claims refund, group and individual daily cash reports and cash tracking to maintain accuracy for daily bank deposits and to ensure correct premium allocation.
Operates the Opex Mail Extractor equipment for the sorting and manual extraction of mail to expedite the processing of daily group, individual premium and claim refund receipts.
