Certified Public Accountant (CPA) / CPA Candidate / Enrolled Agent (EA)

We are seeking a CPA, CPA Candidate, or Enrolled Agent (EA) to join a small, collaborative accounting firm. This position offers a flexible work environment with a strong focus on work-life balance, family, and professional growth . The schedule can be tailored to meet the needs of both the candidate and the team.

The position is based in office in West Point, Iowa , with the potential for some remote work.

• Prepare individual, business, non-profit, and estate/trust income tax returns .

• Assist with tax return review and quality control.

• Perform bookkeeping for a select group of clients.

• Build and maintain strong client relationships through phone, email, text, web, and in-person communication .

• Provide support and assistance to other internal team members as needed.

• Assist the tax team with gathering tax documentation from clients .

• Distribute final client copies and maintain appropriate tax records.

• Support the tax team throughout the tax preparation and filing process.

• Work additional hours during tax season, with the potential for up to 70 hours per week .

• CPA, CPA Candidate, or Enrolled Agent (EA) credential.

• Must have or be able to obtain a PTIN .

• Ability to successfully pass a background check .

• Minimum of 2 years of experience preparing Form 1040 tax returns .

• Experience with 1065 and 1120S tax returns is a plus.

• Experience with QuickBooks or payroll reporting is a plus.

• Experience with Drake Tax is a plus.

• Experience working with paperless accounting/tax systems is a plus.

• Strong communication, organizational, and client-service skills.

• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with the team.

• Starting salary: $65,000 , depending on experience and qualifications.
