Job Title

Registered Nurse – PICU / Cardiovascular ICU (Open Heart)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 30-bed Cardiovascular/Open Heart PICU serving a neonatal-to-adult population with diagnoses including congenital heart defects, heart failure, cardiac transplant, dysrhythmias, and cardiomyopathy
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1 for ICU-level patients and 1:2–3 for intermediate-acuity patients
• Utilize intracardiac lines, ECMO equipment, GE and Servo ventilators, and Pyxis with barcode scanning for medication administration; adhere to strict narcotic waste policy within 2 hours
• Float within the ICU cluster as required; travelers are first to float to other ICU units
• Collaborate with a 24/7 on-unit intensivist, dedicated code team, CNA/PCT ancillary support, and respiratory therapists who manage ventilators
• Follow all unit and facility policies including dress code, every-other-weekend scheduling, and required holiday coverage

Required Qualifications

• Active Arkansas RN license or valid Compact RN license
• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience overall; with at least 1 year of Pediatric CV experience and 1 year of Adult CV experience, OR 2+ years of combined Pediatric/Adult CV experience
• At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment
• PALS, ACLS, and BLS certifications required prior to start
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Must pass facility fit test (no facial hair permitted unless for religious beliefs); must test negative for nicotine; flu vaccination required with no exemptions

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Pediatric cardiovascular nursing experience strongly preferred; adult CV RN background will be considered
• ECMO experience preferred
• Familiarity with CRRT, peritoneal dialysis, VAD, and Impella devices
