The Interim Inpatient Laboratory Director will provide leadership for laboratory and pathology personnel, working closely with hospital leadership, medical staff, and other clinical departments to support safe, efficient laboratory services. This role will have direct responsibility for laboratory personnel and will play a key part in coordinating operational priorities, regulatory readiness, and departmental performance.

The Interim Inpatient Laboratory Director will oversee a comprehensive inpatient laboratory environment supporting the needs of a 350+ bed hospital and its diverse patient population. The department plays an essential role in timely diagnostics and clinical decision-making, making strong collaboration between laboratory professionals, physicians, nursing, and other clinical teams especially important.

The Interim Inpatient Laboratory Director will provide strategic and operational leadership for laboratory services, with a strong emphasis on quality, staffing, workflow, regulatory compliance, and patient safety. A major focus of the assignment will be leading accreditation and regulatory readiness efforts across CLIA, CAP, JCAHO, AABB, and DHS, including preparing the department for an upcoming CAP inspection. The Interim Inpatient Laboratory Director will also support staff development, reinforce clinical and quality standards, identify opportunities for process improvement, and ensure laboratory operations remain efficient and compliant.
