Interventional Radiology Technologist

Job Summary:

The Interventional Radiology Cath Lab Technician is responsible for supporting diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the interventional radiology and cardiology departments. This role involves preparing and assisting with patient care during procedures, maintaining equipment, and coordinating scheduling to ensure efficient unit operations. The technician must be adaptable to weekend shifts and major holiday coverage to meet unit needs.

Responsibilities:

Prepare patients and equipment for interventional radiology and cardiology procedures.
Assist physicians and nursing staff during catheterization and other interventional procedures.
Maintain and sterilize medical instruments and equipment used in the cath lab.
Coordinate scheduling requests and communicate effectively with the unit team.
Adhere to safety protocols and infection control standards within the cath lab environment.
Document procedures and patient information accurately.
Support unit needs by being flexible with shift assignments and coverage.

Required Skills & Certifications:

Certification as a Cath Lab Technician or equivalent specialized training.
Experience in interventional radiology or cardiology procedures.
Strong knowledge of sterile techniques and equipment handling.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Availability to work weekends and major holidays as required.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

Additional certifications related to radiology or cardiovascular technology.
Experience with scheduling and unit coordination.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Special Considerations:

Weekend shifts may exceed every other weekend to meet unit needs.
Must be open to working three out of five major holidays.
Scheduling requests due to outside employment will not be considered.

Scheduling:

Work schedule includes weekend shifts and holiday coverage as needed.
Shift assignments are determined based on unit requirements and staffing needs.
