As a Purchasing Specialist, you'll plan, source, negotiate, and purchase materials that directly support daily production, while building strong supplier partnerships and maintaining accurate inventory data. You'll collaborate closely with Production, Warehouse, Quality, Finance, and Sales to forecast needs, prevent shortages, control spend, and support food safety and regulatory compliance.Required SkillsPurchasing/procurement experience supporting production needs in a fast-paced environmentStrategic sourcing and supplier negotiation skills (price, quality, service, delivery terms)Strong vendor relationship management and supplier performance evaluationWorking knowledge of inventory management, forecasting, and replenishment planningAbility to analyze purchasing trends, market conditions, and commodity pricing for cost-saving opportunitiesExperience creating/reviewing purchase orders, invoices, and contracts for accuracy and complianceProficiency with ERP/MRP/inventory management systems and maintaining accurate purchasing/inventory recordsStrong Microsoft Excel skillsClear communication, strong organization, and effective problem-solvingAbility to manage multiple priorities in a manufacturing settingNice to Have SkillsBackground in commercial bakery, food manufacturing, or consumer packaged goods (CPG)Familiarity with food safety and regulatory standards such as GMPs, HACCP, and FDA requirementsExposure to SQF or BRC certification standardsSupply chain certification such as APICS, CPSM, or similarPreferred Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field (preferred)2+ years of purchasing/procurement experience (preferred), ideally within food manufacturing or commercial bakingDemonstrated experience managing supplier relationships and supporting inventory planningOther RequirementsAbility to regularly walk production and warehouse areasAbility to occasionally lift up to 25 poundsComfortable working in warehouse, cooler, and manufacturing environments as neededBring your sourcing skills, attention to detail, and drive for continuous improvement—apply today to help power a bakery operation that depends on smart, reliable purchasing.
