Registered Respiratory Therapist

Role: The Respiratory Therapist RRT provides advanced respiratory care to diagnose, evaluate, treat, and manage cardiopulmonary conditions in patients, acting as a resource to staff and leading clinical projects as needed. Responsibilities Include Performing and interpreting diagnostic tests, obtaining arterial gases, and troubleshooting equipment for optimal patient care. Administering medications safely, evaluating effects, and communicating patient progress to staff and physicians. Monitoring patient conditions, sharing information, and recommending care strategies while educating patients and families on self-care techniques. Completing documentation, managing supplies, participating in quality and safety initiatives, and suggesting process improvements. Promoting organizational values and potentially floating to other departments or being on-call based on operational needs. Qualifications Graduate of an AMA-accredited Respiratory Therapy program. Current state license and certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. Health Care Provider Life Support certification, with ACLS required for critical care areas; additional certifications may be required for specialty areas. Physical requirements: Visual and manual dexterity for operating equipment, lifting and moving patients, walking and assisting with transportation, and standing for extended periods.
