Responsibilities

• Perform obstetric nursing care for laboring patients with evidence-based practices.

• Monitor fetal well-being and respond to distress with timely interventions.

• Assess and manage intrapartum risk factors; initiate escalation as needed.

• Adhere to hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

• Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesia, and support staff to coordinate care.

• Educate patients and families on labor options, pain relief, and postnatal care.

• Document care activities accurately in electronic medical records for high visibility.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives and participate in performance metrics.

• Mentor junior staff and share best practices to foster professional growth.

• Assist with neonatal stabilization and transfer when necessary.

• Maintain equipment readiness and manage supply levels for labor and delivery.

Experience/Qualifications

• Active RN license with obstetric or perinatal specialty preferred

• BSN preferred; strong volume obstetric nursing experience required

• Demonstrated proficiency in fetal monitoring and intrapartum interventions

• Ability to respond to obstetric emergencies and coordinate escalation

• Proficient in electronic medical records and accurate documentation

• Strong patient and family education, including pain relief options

• Team collaboration with obstetrics, anesthesia, and support staff

• Commitment to quality improvement, performance metrics, and data-driven targets

• Ability to mentor junior staff and lead by example

• Experience with neonatal stabilization and transfer protocols

• Maintain equipment readiness and manage labor & delivery supplies
