Industrial Engineer II

Supervisor: Director, Solutions Design Services Job Purpose As part of the Solutions Design Group, the Industrial Engineer II will work in coordination with the Sales Team, other Solutions Design team members, and Clients to design creative data driven solutions that exceed customer expectations utilizing both traditional and innovative technologies. The Industrial Engineer II will assist in defining the scope of the conceptual solution by analyzing customer data, clarifying unknowns, and documenting customer requirements. The Industrial Engineer II may also assist in creating high-level project schedules, ROIs, and a multitude of other sales support documents. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Identify data requirements and communicate with the client to obtain the necessary data Perform an in-depth data analysis and data summary to be used by the team as the foundation for the client solution(s) and potential design With cross functional team, develop storage strategies, facility layouts, and detailed processes based on the project scope, design parameters, and data analysis Establish, communicate, and document the design criteria, assumptions, and requirements with the client Assist in evaluating available technologies ranging from basic material handling systems to highly sophisticated, highly automated systems and recommend solutions Determine labor requirements, cost savings opportunities, return on investment (ROI), and expected system flow rates Create documentation to support project scope and sales Assist pre-sale team in design review meetings with the client As needed contributor in site visits during the proposal phase with client and pre-sale team to review processes and physical systems Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering or equivalent 2+ Years’ Experience in the Material Handling Industry or equivalent Working knowledge of Conveyor, Racking, Storage Systems and Advancing Technologies (Robotics, Goods to Person Systems etc.) Creative, self-motivated, engineer who enjoys working in team settings Have a customer first mentality to solve challenges Well-developed verbal / interpersonal skills with strong organizational, problem solving, judgement making, and time management skills Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously and comfortable in a fast-paced environment Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project, Visio), Python, and other large dataset analytics tools Basic working knowledge of AutoDesk products (AutoCAD, Inventor, Etc.). Industry knowledge related to supply chain, logistics, material handling systems, and software such as WMS, WES, WCS, CCS, ERP, etc. or the ability to learn Ability to work without direct supervision with a high degree of responsibility Working Conditions Ability to travel up to 15% or as needed; willing to work extended hours to support proposal and contract activities Working in office, warehouse, and manufacturing facilities Working in a stationary position for an extended period Moving or traversing for an extended period Occasional ascending and descending scaffolding and/or mezzanines Operating computers for an extended period Possible exposure to noise levels exceeding recommended DBA levels Job requirements listed indicate the minimum level of knowledge, skills, and/or ability necessary to perform the job proficiently.
