Physician Assistant

Location: Bronx, New York. Grant funded position. Shift: Day (8 AM-6 PM). Hourly rate: $76.52. Job Summary The Physician Assistant of the Phase 1 Cancer Clinical Trials Office Research Program works closely with the Disease and Modality Team Leader, Attending Physicians, Program Director of the Early Phase Program, and the clinical research team. The PA reports to the Phase 1 Disease and Modality Team Physician Leader regarding patient care and collaborates with the Senior Director for Cancer Clinical Research Administration and the Director of the Cancer Clinical Trials Office to screen eligible patients for trials and provide care to patients on early phase cancer clinical trials, within scope of practice and in accordance with the clinical research protocol. Essential Functions Review patient histories, conduct physical examinations, and manage the medical care of patients enrolled on early phase clinical trials, providing treatment and supportive care. Ensure proper medical care is provided and maintain protocol and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) compliance. Explain study participation—including potential treatment options, alternatives, and expected and unexpected side effects—to patients. Assess patients on early phase clinical trials, reviewing medical history, review of systems and complaints to assess adverse events and manage them in accordance with scope of practice and protocol requirements. Report to and support the physician/medical director so the Early Phase Research program enrolls and treats patients efficiently and integratedly. Provide support to medical staff and ensure all medical orders and documentation meet standards. Take appropriate patient notes and ensure that patient care is logged in the electronic health record. Utilize specific information in the development of teaching and long‑term plans, documenting and evaluating patient and others’ responses to teaching and planning. Collaborate and communicate with other members of the clinical and clinical research team for an integrated medical treatment plan for each participant. Ensure open communication with physicians, administration, and clinical staff—clinic and infusion staff. Qualifications 1–3 years of experience working with cancer patients required. Prior experience in clinical trials and grant‑funded projects required. Experience with therapeutic research preferred. NYS Physician Assistant license and registration required. Excellent interpersonal skills required for interaction with participants. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred. OHS fit test required. OHS annual assessment required. BLS card required.
