Overview
Registered Nurse - Med Surg | Bakersfield, CA | Start August 3, 2026 | 8-week travel assignment | 36 hours per week | Nights (12-hour shifts) | Travel - temporary assignment
This med-surg nursing role involves providing professional care to patients across the age spectrum within an assigned unit. The nurse will supervise and coordinate care planning with multidisciplinary colleagues. The assignment is represented by RCHEA.

Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care to patients across the age spectrum within the assigned med-surg unit.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care; administer medications and monitor patient status.
- Collaborate with physicians, case managers, and other disciplines to coordinate comprehensive care plans.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes; support accurate handoffs and transitions of care.
- Promote patient safety, infection control, and adherence to regulatory standards.
- Participate in discharge planning and patient/family education to support ongoing recovery.

Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse license in California.
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
- Med-Surg or related acute care experience in an inpatient setting preferred.
- Ability to work 12-hour night shifts (3 nights per week) and manage high-acuity patients.
- Authorization to work in the United States for a travel assignment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
