CNC Machinist

CNC Machinist CTR Group is seeking experienced CNC Machinists for a direct-hire placement with a leading aerospace and defense manufacturer near Tuscaloosa, AL. Key Responsibilities: Set up, operate, and maintain CNC milling and turning centers to produce precision aerospace and defense components. Interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, tool lists, and work instructions. Select and install cutting tools, fixtures, and work-holding for materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, and Inconel. Adjust feeds, speeds, and offsets to maintain strict tolerance requirements. Perform in-process and final inspections using micrometers, calipers, indicators, gauges, and other precision tools. Deburr and finish parts to aerospace standards. Document production data, inspections, and process steps in the ERP system. Set up and run both proven and unproven parts, including medium- to high-complexity components. Support prototype, first-article, and experimental machining efforts. Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve issues and improve manufacturability. Participate in continuous improvement and lean initiatives. Maintain a clean, organized, audit-ready work area. Technical Skills & Knowledge: 5 Axis Machining experience required. Strong understanding of aerospace drawings, GD&T, and customer specifications. Proven ability to hold tight tolerances and work with precision components. Proficiency using precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, etc.). Solid math skills, including fractions, decimals, and basic geometry. Working knowledge of ERP systems and manufacturing documentation practices. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot machining processes. Familiarity with first article inspections (FAI) and quality documentation is a plus.
