Lead Systems Engineer - Transition

Salary: $110,500 - 205,500 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors degree with at least 9 years of directly related experience, or a graduate degree with at least 7 years of related experience; alternatively, 13 years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
• We require an active Top Secret/SCI clearance with SAP eligibility.
• We require 3+ years of experience in systems engineering, mission operations, ground systems, satellite operations, or transition planning for aerospace or defense programs.
• We require 3+ years of experience working with customer stakeholders in classified or high-consequence operational environments.
• Preferred experience includes Launch and Early Orbit/Operations (LEOP/LEOPS).
• Preferred experience includes satellite command and control, ground segment operations, or mission operations centers.
• Preferred experience includes transitioning spacecraft or mission systems between operational environments, control centers, or ground segments.
• Preferred familiarity with mission readiness review processes such as TMRR or similar operational readiness milestones.
• Preferred experience with Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) integration or transition activities.
• Preferred experience supporting classified space operations programs.
• Preferred knowledge of space vehicle lifecycle operations, on-orbit mission support, and ground segment interfaces.
• Preferred experience leading cross-functional teams in complex aerospace or defense transition efforts.
• Preferred familiarity with customer communication and coordination in support of operational mission planning.

• We lead the planning and execution of the formal transition plan for moving GFE space vehicles to the Kobuk Ground Segment.
• We define and manage transition activities across planning, preparation, integration, rehearsal, execution, and Transition to Mission Readiness Review (TMRR).
• We identify and coordinate the resources needed at each stage, including engineering, operations, logistics, test, cybersecurity, training, and customer support.
• We develop detailed schedules, resource plans, and task sequencing to support a successful on-orbit transition from one ground segment to another.
• We work with mission operations, systems engineering, software, integration and test, cybersecurity, and program management teams to identify prerequisites, dependencies, and risks.
• We communicate Space Operations Center (SOC) requirements and mission transition needs to customer stakeholders and internal teams.
• We facilitate cross-functional planning sessions, technical interchange meetings, readiness reviews, and transition working groups.
• We support the development of operational concepts, procedures, checklists, risk mitigation plans, and readiness criteria for satellite transition activities.
• We ensure technical, operational, and programmatic requirements are incorporated into transition planning and execution.
• We track risks, issues, action items, and dependencies, and we build mitigation and closure plans to protect schedule and mission readiness.
• We support and/or lead dress rehearsals, readiness events, and transition execution activities to verify personnel, processes, tools, and system readiness.
• We provide systems engineering leadership for transition-related problem solving, anomaly resolution, and stakeholder coordination.
• We interface with customers, mission partners, and program leadership to provide status updates, resolve issues, and support decision-making.
• We contribute to post-transition assessments, lessons learned, and process improvements to strengthen future transition efforts.
• We travel as needed to support customer meetings, operational planning events, integration activities, and readiness reviews.
