Patient Access Specialist - Westchester OPCFull-TimeA highly visible customer service position that is responsible for the reception of patients, families, and health care providers. The Patient Access Specialist is an expert in areas of customer service, registration/scheduling, insurance, and HSS Standards of Care. Patient Access Specialist is expected to score in the top 5% of measureable categories within 6 months of hire.ResponsibilitiesProvide exceptional customer service to all patients, visitors, and customersPrioritize and designate patient flowVerify insurance and obtain benefitsConfirming all radiology services have been authorized prior to visits/communicating results with patientsTriage phone calls and schedule appointmentsRespond to patient, visitor, and customer inquiriesObtain patient demographics, personal information, and medical history by interviewing patientsCollect paymentsPerforms other related duties incidental to the work described hereinScreen patients for COVID safety precautionsCommunication with leadership regarding closing shift precautionsPosition is based in White Plains, however, employee may need to travel to other HSS sitesCross coverage with other departmentsRequirementsBachelor's degree preferred; Diploma or equivalent with 3 years of experienceTwo years in a healthcare or related customer service fieldDesired QualificationsSuperior written and oral communication skillsExceptional customer service skillsAbility to multi-taskAbility to work in a team environmentKnowledge of healthcare and health insuranceFamiliarity with medical terminologyDisplays positive attitudes towards assignments and othersHired for evenings and weekends, but must be flexible for morning coverageNon-Discrimination Policy Hospital for Special Surgery is committed to providing high quality care and skilled, compassionate, reliable service to our community in a safe and healing environment.
