KBW Financial Staffing and Recruiting has partnered with a growing, privately held company is looking for a hands‑on Controller to join its leadership team and help build the next phase of its accounting function. This is a great opportunity for a forward‑thinking Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller or early‑career Controller who wants more ownership and the opportunity to build rather than step into a highly established department. Newly created position due to company growth Direct visibility with senior leadership Opportunity to build and improve the accounting function Strong focus on systems, automation and process improvement Opportunity to streamline a month-end close that currently takes too long Help develop scalable processes and reporting as the company continues to grow Hands‑on role with significant ownership and autonomy What We're Looking For 5+ years of progressive accounting experience Strong GAAP knowledge and full‑cycle accounting experience QuickBooks Online experience Strong systems aptitude and interest in improving how accounting operates Process‑oriented and comfortable identifying problems and building solutions Experience with month‑end close, reconciliations and financial reporting Comfortable working in a smaller, growing company where you'll need to roll up your sleeves CPA preferred but not required The ideal candidate doesn't need to have every piece of the industry experience. We're more interested in someone who is smart, systems‑oriented, curious and wants to build something. Compensation Competitive salary, plus BCBS of RI and a 401(k) with company match.
