Commodity Manager

Commodity Manager The Commodity Manager serves as a sourcing expert in a particular class of goods or services. The role creates and maintains supplier relationships, negotiates pricing structures and contracts, and ensures pricing and delivery meet contract guidelines. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Drive vendor selection strategy, contracts management, and continuous monitoring to optimize collaboration and mitigate risks. Write, launch, manage and successfully close RFPs for all new suppliers or services. Review and consolidate existing suppliers in an assigned commodity, deactivate unused suppliers, remove redundancies and seek consolidation opportunities. Ensure all supplier contracts are uploaded to the database with key terms captured for reporting. Lead, negotiate, and contract all new and renewal supplier agreements; track negotiations and save generated contracts in the assigned database. Serve as an internal and external escalation point for all supplier questions and issues. Measure supplier and vendor performance against agreed cost‑saving and cost‑avoidance targets. Monitor, track and react to critical market forecasts and condition changes. Conduct category spend analyses and reporting, supplier stratification, supply market and category industry research. Build and manage relationships with priority business executives and support implementation of business strategies through advanced procurement initiatives. Facilitate the entire sourcing process and collaborate closely with clients to select and award business to suppliers, demonstrating executive‑level presence and balancing stakeholder interests. Stay abreast of industry news, market trends and regulatory changes that could affect commodity prices. Additional Functions & Responsibilities Perform other duties as assigned. Support the organization’s quality program(s). Travel as required. Qualifications Education & Licensing Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or Finance from an accredited college or university is preferred. Related certifications such as IIBA, CPM, CIPS or CPSM are preferred. Experience Eight (8) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience with P2P platforms and Power BI is preferred. Skills & Knowledge Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to present complex topics concisely to audiences at various levels. PC literate, proficient in Microsoft Office products, with strong skills in Excel and PowerPoint. Strong analytical, interpretive and storytelling skills with data. Strong organizational and time‑management skills. Excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills. Ability to create comprehensive, accurate, and constructive written reports. Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to meet or exceed performance competencies. Self‑confident with an ability to accept and respond to challenges positively.
