Principal Cyber Engineer

Position Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA (Hybrid). Requires active U.S. Secret DoD clearance and U.S. citizenship. Overview RTX Corporation (BBN Technologies) seeks an experienced leader to drive Cyber/EW research, integrate with defense and intelligence communities, and secure external funding. Responsibilities Build and advance a Cyber/EW research area for BBN with measurable business impact. Articulate and execute a vision and tactical direction for BBN and influence across RTX. Lead cross‑functional teams performing business development, proposal preparation, and execution. Lead projects and grow the team of collaborators and implementors. Distinguish BBN and yourself to customers by leading and performing cutting‑edge research. Travel up to 15%. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree with minimum 8 years of relevant experience, or Advanced Degree with 5 years experience. Active, transferable U.S. Secret Security Clearance required on day one. Advanced technical expertise in cybersecurity R&D (binary analysis, reverse engineering, protocols, cyber capability development). Experience in technical leadership of cybersecurity‑focused R&D teams. Preferred Qualifications Working experience on classified government‑funded research programs. Ability to write and win competitive R&D efforts for government projects. Provide visionary technical leadership and desire to grow a team. Proficiency in relevant programming languages and development tools. Experience with OS internals (Windows, *nix). Experience with cyber‑physical system vulnerability and cybersecurity research.
