Position Type: Food Service/ Cafeteria Personnel Date Posted: 7/29/2026 Location: Norwell Community School Corporation Date Available: 08/10/2026 Job Title: School Food Service Assistant Manager Job Summary: The School Food Service Assistant Manager supports the daily operations of the school cafeteria, ensuring the efficient preparation and service of nutritious meals in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role assists the Food Service Manager in supervising staff, maintaining food safety standards, and providing excellent customer service to students and staff. Key Responsibilities: Assist in overseeing daily food service operations, including meal preparation, serving, and cleanup Support the implementation of menus that meet USDA and district nutrition guidelines Supervise and direct cafeteria staff in the absence of the Food Service Manager Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations Monitor food quality, portion control, and presentation Assist with inventory management, ordering supplies, and minimizing waste Operate and oversee point-of-sale (POS) systems and cash handling procedures Train and support new and existing staff on procedures and safety standards Maintain accurate records, including production logs, temperature logs, and reports Address student and staff concerns in a professional and timely manner Promote a positive and respectful cafeteria environment Provide support with catering events Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework in nutrition or food service management preferred Previous experience in food service, preferably in a school or institutional setting Leadership or supervisory experience preferred Knowledge of food safety practices and HACCP guidelines Ability to operate kitchen equipment and POS systems Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods Lift and carry up to 40 pounds Work in a fast-paced kitchen environment with exposure to heat, cold, and cleaning chemicals Hours typically follow the school calendar, with limited evenings, weekends, and holidays #J-18808-Ljbffr Norwell Community Schools
