HVAC Truck Based Service Manager

Join Johnson Controls in Augusta, Georgia, and help lead a truck-based HVAC service team that supports smart, healthy, and sustainable buildings. In this role, you will guide service execution, strengthen customer relationships, and support the team’s performance, development, and safety.Role OverviewThis position is responsible for service customer account leadership across a defined customer base, including labor and material growth, profitability, customer satisfaction, and employee development. You will manage day-to-day service delivery, support staffing and performance needs, and help ensure safe, consistent execution of the business.Key ResponsibilitiesSet and monitor gross margin and profitability goals for customer accounts, including planned service agreements and Labor & Materials (L&M) work.Drive L&M growth through Technicians and Team Leads.Lead execution of assigned service business, including warranty-related customer issues.Manage the procurement and maintenance of fleet and tools inventory.Ensure consistency of delivery systems through supervision and audits of Technicians, Customer Service Agents, and other service-delivery roles.Review and approve L&M quotations.Support budgeting, forecasting, and accounts payable/receivable activities.Maintain appropriate staffing levels, including hiring, training, transitions, and day-to-day team performance management.Conduct formal performance reviews and address related employee issues.Account for safety performance and program compliance.How You Will Do ItOwn outcomes with accountability by balancing customer impact, safety, quality, and financial performance in daily decisions.Stay close to the work by understanding field needs, removing obstacles for technicians, and responding quickly to service issues.Improve every day by using clear goals, candid reviews, and practical problem-solving to strengthen margins, staffing, and execution.Win as one team by building trust across technicians, team leads, customer service, and support partners.QualificationsTechnical school training or equivalent experience in the HVAC or building controls industry.Three or more years of management experience in a similar service-deliverable environment.Strong ability to prioritize work activities, manage scheduling, and lead a diverse team.Strong interpersonal, customer service, and negotiating skills.Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.Basic financial accounting experience.Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office products and a basic Windows environment.Nice to HaveDiploma in Electronic or Mechanical Systems.Two years of prior experience in the HVAC or building controls industry.Five or more years in a service management role directing a similar service-deliverable team.Why Join UsJohnson Controls offers a competitive salary, a bonus plan based on individual, group, and corporate performance, 15 days of vacation in the first year, and a comprehensive benefits package including 401(k), medical, dental, and vision care available on day one.
