Assistant Controller (Greensboro--Winston-Salem--High Point Area)

Banyan Search is helping a family-owned growing company in their search for a Controller / Assistant Controller. This is a newly created role as the company grows and develops additional tools to streamline financial reporting, monthly accounting responsibilities and accounting processes. This position REQUIRES a CPA certification, and strong accounting experience with a preference for public accounting experience as a foundation. This is a fully ONSITE position. Level of role is dependent on candidate experience set.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and actively participate in all accounting functions, including month-end close.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and reporting packages for senior leadership.
  • Monitor compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
  • Support forecasting, variance analysis, and cash flow monitoring in collaboration with the CFO.
  • Partner with business units to analyze financial results and support issue resolution.
  • Oversee the year-end closing process, audits, tax compliance, and external reporting.
  • Supervise accounting staff, providing timely feedback and support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, and CPA certification required
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Leadership experience managing a team
  • ERP experience, advanced Excel and BI skills, and the ability to lead staff and communicate clearly with non-financial leaders.
  • Manufacturing and distribution experience strongly preferred.
