Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2+ years of medical-surgical nursing experience required License: Michigan nursing license verification required Certifications: BLS (AHA) required Must-Have: Straight medical-surgical nursing experience; Trauma level experience preferred Description: Important: A strict attendance policy will be enforced. Any registered nurse contractor who is absent from a scheduled shift or is more than 20 minutes late for their scheduled shift three times will be terminated immediately. Situations such as communicable diseases or hospitalization with supporting evidence will be reviewed in favor of the contractor. The medical-surgical unit has a diverse patient population consisting of general and vascular surgery, bariatric surgery, plastic surgery, and trauma. This is a fast-paced environment with great learning opportunities for both graduate and experienced nurses. Nursing on this unit is patient-centered and focused on patient safety and delivery of quality care for positive patient outcomes. Team members contribute toward providing excellent, evidence-based, and holistic patient care. The unit has an active and engaged council that promotes a healthy work environment of teamwork and positivity. New team members are welcomed and supported during their orientation as they learn and grow in their professional nursing practice. Using clinical pathways, patient education, and interactive communication as guides, all aspects of patient care are addressed by an exceptional interdisciplinary care team. Positive and progressive attitudes contribute to a collaborative environment involving all members of the care team to provide excellent patient care and positive outcomes. Essential functions and responsibilities include: Collaborating with other members of the healthcare team to develop, implement, and evaluate an individualized written plan of care based on assessments of physiological, psychosocial, and spiritual needs. Seeking lifelong learning through certification, advanced practice, higher education, and literature review. Demonstrating leadership through the sharing of knowledge and being a clinical resource and professional role model. Exhibiting effective communication through collegial relationships and interdisciplinary communication. Demonstrating enhanced time management skills and the ability to assist others to contribute to the overall performance of the team. Performing other duties consistent with the purpose of the job as directed by competency-based objectives.
