If you’re interested in joining a health care system that is changing the face of care and well-being in our community, we encourage you to explore a future with ThedaCare.Benefits, with a whole-person approach to wellness –Lifestyle Engagemente.g. health coaches, relaxation rooms, health focused apps (Wonder, Ripple), mental health support Access & Affordabilitye.g. minimal or zero copays, team member cost sharing premiums, daycareAbout ThedaCare!Summary :The Nuclear Medicine Technologist works within state regulatory guidelines to perform nuclear medicine procedures under the supervision of the radiologist, cardiologist, and/or radiation oncologist.Job Description:KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Understands and applies state regulatory requirements related to the handling, administration, and storage of radiopharmaceuticals to protect team members and patients from unnecessary radiation exposure.Performs ordered examinations (including therapies) of appropriate anatomical regions in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols of the individual site reading physician.Demonstrates knowledge and ability to perform planar, SPECT (single-photon emission computerized tomography), and dynamic nuclear medicine imaging on a variety of equipment to create the best possible images of specific areas of the body.Under the supervision of a provider, demonstrates knowledge and skills needed to perform nuclear medicine procedures per protocol, and adjusts techniques according to patient needs.Communicates effectively with patients, families, nursing, and team members to provide the best care to our patients.Shows competency in intravenous access and administration of radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with established protocols while using aseptic technique.Completes documentation on time and accurately in accordance with department policy/procedure, including proper image management and accurate documentation in electronic medical record.Applies critical thinking skills and maintains order accuracy when triaging and prioritizing patients.Practices safety at all times, which includes adhering to ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) principles for proper radiation safety for self and patients, using mobilization and immobilization devices, following safe patient handling practices, following infection prevention practices (proper personal protective equipment), and following hand hygiene to comply with all government agencies or other regulatory bodies.QUALIFICATIONS: NMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board) Technologist or ARRT(N) (American Registry of Radiologic Technologist, Nuclear Medicine Technology)PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of fifty (50) pounds without assistanceJob classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job dutiesWORK ENVIRONMENT: Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instrumentsOccasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shockPossible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agentsOccasional contact with aggressive and or combative patientsUse of computers throughout the work dayFrequent use of keyboard with repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and fingersScheduled Weekly Hours:32Scheduled FTE:0.8Location:ThedaCare Regional Medical Center - Appleton - Appleton,WisconsinOvertime Exempt:NoWorker Shift Details:DaysSummaryLocation: ThedaCare Regional Medical Center - AppletonType: Full time
