Store Manager Trainee

A Dollar Tree Store Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of store operations while ensuring excellent customer service, operational excellence, and profitability. Typical responsibilities include: Leadership & Team Management Recruit, hire, train, and develop associates and assistant managers. Create work schedules and ensure adequate staffing. Coach, mentor, and evaluate team performance. Address employee concerns and enforce company policies and procedures. Store Operations Oversee the daily operation of the store. Ensure the store is clean, organized, safe, and customer-ready. Open and close the store according to company procedures. Ensure compliance with company standards, policies, and safety regulations. Customer Service Deliver a positive shopping experience. Resolve customer complaints professionally and promptly. Maintain high standards of customer service throughout the store. Inventory & Merchandising Manage inventory levels and oversee freight processing. Ensure merchandise is stocked, recovered, and displayed according to company standards. Monitor product availability and minimize shrink through loss prevention practices. Financial Management Oversee cash handling procedures and ensure accurate deposits. Monitor sales, payroll, and operating expenses. Analyze store performance and implement action plans to improve results. Maintain accurate records and complete required reports. Safety & Loss Prevention Enforce loss prevention policies. Investigate incidents and complete required documentation. Ensure associates follow safety procedures to reduce accidents and theft. Performance Expectations A successful Dollar Tree Store Manager is expected to: Meet or exceed sales and profitability goals. Maintain company merchandising and operational standards. Develop and retain a productive team. Ensure compliance with all company policies and legal requirements. Promote a safe, respectful, and customer-focused work environment. Common Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (associate’s or bachelor’s degree may be preferred). Retail management experience, often 2–5 years. Experience supervising and developing employees. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Overall, the Store Manager is accountable for the store’s performance, team development, customer satisfaction, operational execution, and financial results.
