About the Position

Job Title: PCU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Specialty Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience required License: Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC) Certifications: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association Must-Have: MS/SD experience. ICU experience preferred. ACLS required. Description: Under general supervision, the nurse will provide care to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. The nurse will assume responsibility for an assigned group of patients. The nurse will document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments, noting all changes in physician orders for assigned patients. The nurse will assist physicians in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. The nurse will obtain and monitor physiological data of patients, observing the physiological manifestations and intervening when necessary. The nurse will administer medication as prescribed, initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products. The nurse will deliver patient care competently. The nurse will interact with family and patients, sharing care plans during hospitalization and at the time of discharge. The nurse will inform patients and families of hospital procedures. The nurse will make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. The nurse will delegate tasks to support staff. Other duties may be assigned. Required skills include knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures. The nurse must have the ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services while applying nursing techniques. The nurse must maintain good working relationships with other employees. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. The nurse should be able to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors. Some computer skills are required. Preferred education includes a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited program.
