WR Deputy Engineering Manager

Job Title WR Deputy Engineering Manager – Space Force Range Contract (SFRC) Responsibilities Lead Sustaining Engineering department activities by executing guidance of the Sustaining Engineering Manager. Guide team members in understanding company vision and principles and work in concert with other engineering and department managers to ensure successful planning and execution of engineering activities. Manage the Sustaining Engineering team across the Launch Test Range System (LTRS) enterprise, including engineering activities on Patrick Space Force Base, Cape Canaveral Space Force Base, and Vandenberg Space Force Base, and remote instrumentation sites. Ensure engineering projects are staffed with qualified personnel and resources available to meet project schedules and responsibilities. Support all aspects of systems engineering, hardware engineering, software engineering efforts to sustain, maintain, and operate the LTRS. Ensure personnel are properly trained to execute responsibilities and receive guidance and direction to ensure quality and timely service. Oversee execution and improvements to Sustaining Engineering processes and procedures and follow SFRC standards and management policies. Utilize MS Project products and resource management data tools to identify and resolve resource issues, support escalation, and communicate to management. Provide leadership and guidance in engineering resource prioritization, identify and resolve technical issues, and handle escalation to management. Coach and mentor department resource managers who cannot meet commitments, Amentum standards for technical quality, customer service, or contractual obligations. Monitor workflow, ensure delivery of products on time in accordance with SFRC requirements, prepare and provide progress and status reports, briefings, and recognize personnel through the Amentum Recognition Program. Provide cost and schedule estimates for engineering efforts and project proposals; establish, monitor, and adjust budgets and resource allocations. Ensure all safety, security, and EHS training requirements are followed; interface with SFRC managers to ensure compliance with engineering support. Maintain understanding of Air Force Space Command, Space Launch Delta 45 and 30, and Amentum policies, procedures, and organizational responsibilities for requirements review, operations planning, scheduling, and mission execution. Manage time accountability via timekeeping system with approval responsibilities and resolve timecard issues in accordance with Amentum processes. Develop annual performance appraisals for each employee and the creation of yearly team and individual goals. Required Skills Solid analytical and creative problem solving skills. Strong leadership skills; ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with customers, superiors, peers, and subordinates. Ability to handle multiple priorities and work in a dynamic environment. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Required Experience Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline; Master’s Degree in STEM or Engineering Management preferred. A minimum of 8 years of leadership experience. 10+ years of experience in hardware and/or systems engineering. Extensive proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Experience supporting the LTRS preferred. Additional Eligibility Qualifications Flexibility to work occasional non‑duty hours or on weekends to support specific project and program commitments. Ability to travel frequently between launch ranges (Florida, California); travel frequency negotiable. On‑site availability. Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship or U.S. naturalization. Valid U.S. Driver’s License required. Compensation Annual salary range: $165,000 – $175,000, influenced by geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications.
