Registered Nurse (RN)We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Pre-Operative Unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care for patients undergoing various medical procedures, while ensuring a safe and supportive environment.Job ResponsibilitiesProvide preoperative care for patients, including assessment and preparation for surgical procedures.Administer medications and monitor patients for adverse reactions.Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure a seamless patient experience.Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and safety standards.Participate in unit activities, including orientation and training of new staff as needed.Shift InformationThis position requires working 8-hour shifts during the day, with a rotation for weekend and call responsibilities.QualificationsCurrent RN licensure and at least 2 years of acute care nursing experience, preferably in a preoperative setting.Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS.Ability to perform IV starts and EKGs, with a willingness to learn new skills such as nerve blocks.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.Ability to float between multiple locations within the region as needed.Patient Care and EnvironmentThe Pre-Operative Unit consists of 10 rooms and typically handles between 5-30 cases daily, encompassing a range of procedures including, but not limited to:General surgeries: cholecystectomies, appendectomies, hernia repairs, and orthopedic procedures.Endoscopic procedures: EGDs and colonoscopies.Robotic surgeries and gynecological procedures.Working ConditionsThis role includes a commitment to strong attendance, with call-out requests being strongly discouraged. Unit dynamics feature a collaborative environment with nursing staff consisting of charge nurses and supervisors who actively support patient care activities.OrientationNew hires will receive 1-2 days of orientation with a preceptor to ensure a smooth transition into the unit.Dress CodeThe designated scrub color is navy blue.If you are a motivated RN looking to excel in a dynamic preoperative environment, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
