Job Title: Manual Machinist Job Description
This role involves performing complex set-ups and operating manual mill and lathe machines to manufacture precision parts to both inch and metric specifications. You will work from engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation, use a variety of shop equipment and measuring tools, and ensure products meet strict quality and safety standards. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to follow schedules and adapt to changing priorities in a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities- Perform complex set-ups and operate manual mill and lathe machines using stock and tubing to manufacture parts to inch and metric specifications.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to produce parts to required tolerances.
- Follow production schedules, shop instructions, shop orders, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and manufacturing documentation.
- Fit, align, and adjust machines or assemblies to meet required tolerances and product operating requirements.
- Operate shop equipment, including air and electric drivers, ultrasonic wash equipment, and perform deburring of parts.
- Perform first article inspections to verify that initial parts meet all dimensional and quality requirements.
- Carry out layout and precision inspection using measuring devices such as calipers, height gauges, and protractors.
- Identify deviations that could impact productivity or quality and escalate issues appropriately for resolution.
- Work safely and efficiently while following all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and participating in safety programs to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Maintain logs and required documentation using the appropriate computer systems and tools.
- Demonstrate strong troubleshooting, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills to help determine and use the best methods to achieve results in a safe and timely manner.
- Buff, polish, and deburr parts as needed to meet quality and finish requirements.
- Operate complex equipment safely and consistently, ensuring precision and adherence to quality standards across multiple machining areas.
- Support continuous improvement by following established processes and contributing feedback on methods and productivity.
- 4–5 years of manufacturing or related work experience.
- Proven ability to perform complex set-ups and operate manual mill and lathe machines.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Strong manual dexterity, hand–eye coordination, and visual acuity for precision work.
- Ability to operate a variety of tools and machines in a manufacturing environment.
- Basic computer skills and working knowledge of an ERP system; experience with Oracle Cloud is a plus.
- Proficiency with MS Outlook for communication and documentation.
- Strong math skills, including geometry, to support precision measurements and calculations.
- Solid understanding of mechanics, flow control elements, and MRP concepts.
- Ability to perform layout and precision inspection using calipers, height gauges, protractors, and other measuring devices.
- Ability to follow schedules, shop instructions, SOPs, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Capability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 lbs as required by the role.
- Commitment to working safely and following all PPE and safety program requirements.
- Tube bending experience is a plus.
- Experience operating small and large saws is beneficial.
- Experience with buffing, polishing, and deburring operations.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in precision machining.
- Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a production environment.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills to support collaboration with team members.
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation and logs within computer systems.
- Comfort working in both standard manufacturing areas and cleanroom environments.

Work EnvironmentThe role is based in a manufacturing plant with work performed inside and outside of a cleanroom environment. You will operate manual mills, lathes, saws, air and electric drivers, ultrasonic wash equipment, and various precision measuring tools. The shift runs Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The position requires standing, walking, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50 lbs as part of daily activities. You must follow all PPE requirements, which may include uniform shirts, safety boots, hairnets or headcovers, face shields, gloves, and other protective gear, while contributing to a clean, organized, and safety-focused workspace.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
