The Chief Psychiatrist provides clinical direction, general supervision, and training to the site staff. They approve, sign, and monitor the implementation and efficiency of all treatment plans. The Chief Psychiatrist creates discharge plans to insure appropriate follow-up and support after discharge from the facility. Psychiatrist Essential Functions Provide onsite psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of inmates referred by medical and clinical services staff. Provide written summaries of history, diagnosis and treatment course. Provide psychiatric services for inpatients, assessment, diagnosis, staffing, treatment planning, and regular review of all inmates assigned. Provide psychiatric services for inmates in the general population who require regular psychiatric/behavioral health follow‑up. Assist with the transfer of inmates to behavioral health facilities, including workup and court testimony. Act as regular psychiatrist and participate in treatment programming and planning for the Behavioral Health Unit, including staffing, contact with unit staff and supervisor, discussion of problem cases, follow‑up and medication monitoring, and general psychiatric input. Provide medication management to all admitted inmates. Provide individual and/or group therapy as appropriate. Approve, sign, and monitor the implementation and efficiency of treatment plans. Approve all admissions and discharges into the Behavioral Health Unit, if applicable. Provide in‑service education to site staff as needed. Attend training and meetings as required. Psychiatrist Minimum Requirements Graduate of medical school and completion of an appropriate psychiatric residency. Licensed to practice in the state of Wisconsin. Current DEA number.
