Direct Support Professional III-Group Home

Job Summary Direct Support Professional III – Group Home at the Corpus Christi State Supported Living Center. The position will serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, providing routine care, emergency assistance, and training to promote independence. This is a full‑time day position requiring a Texas driver’s license and ability to drive a state‑owned vehicle. Responsibilities Provide direct care and support services: grooming, bathing, feeding, lifting, medication administration, and assistance with daily living skills. Document resident participation and progress, record incidents, and maintain accurate electronic data. Implement behavioral plans (PBSPs, CIPs, SAPs) and positive behavior support interventions. Observe and report medical or behavioral changes; administer first aid/CPR as appropriate. Transport residents safely to scheduled activities and emergencies. Maintain a safe and sanitary living environment and report hazards. Assist new DSPs, provide mentorship, and volunteer as shift/team lead when necessary. Participate in disaster response, continuity of operations planning, and other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of individual care techniques and programs for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Strong written and verbal communication in English. Decision‑making and good judgment during critical incidents. Quick and calm reaction to emergencies. Proper body mechanics, posture, and lifting techniques. Ability to provide first aid, CPR, Ukeru, and Safe Use of Restraint (SUR). Training, mentoring, and coaching others. Teamwork and flexibility with work assignments. Qualifications High‑school diploma, GED, or six months of related work experience. Minimum 18 years of age. Valid Texas driver’s license (or ability to obtain within 90 days). Background checks, drug screening, and required registry checks. Preferred Six months of experience with people who have mental health or intellectual/developmental disabilities. Experience working as a DSP. Experience implementing behavior programs. Experience writing reports. Certifications in CPR, First Aid, Ukeru, or SUR.
