Location: Independence, KY Division: Road Transport, US Job Posting Title: Driver, Local Shuttle SUMMARY The local shuttle driver will be responsible for executing local deliveries within a 50‑mile radius with a tractor‑trailer with the utmost care, professionalism, and accuracy. Benefits of Driving with DSV Local drivers start at $28.00 – $30.00 an hour, which includes shift differential for overnight shifts (based on experience) Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance (eligible on the first of the month following 30 days of employment) Company‑paid short‑term & long‑term disability and life insurance 401K plan with up to 5% company match Generous PTO package – vacation, sick time, birthday holiday, 3 floating holidays, and 6 paid holidays a year Bi‑weekly pay with Daily Pay options $1,000 referral bonus program Cell phone allowance Paid orientation including transportation, lodging, and meals ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Operate 26’ box truck safely and in compliance with all traffic laws and the Department of Transportation Accurately and efficiently load and unload cargo, often using a manual or powered pallet jack Back truck to customer dock Maintain compliance with federal and state safety regulations and safe and professional driving behavior Communicate with customer representatives in a pleasant, respectful, and efficient manner Communicate and coordinate with dispatchers Comply with all DOT requirements, including drug and alcohol testing (subject to random and reasonable‑suspicion testing) Secure cargo and properly arrange and balance it within the vehicle Ensure that any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving Perform other duties as required Qualifications & Experience Class A CDL required Minimum 2 years of verified experience within the past 4 years (3+ years preferred) Minimum 1 year medical certificate – minimum ICC requirements related to physical qualifications as set forth under Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 391.41, Physical Qualifications of Drivers Experience in load securement, route planning, and navigating various road conditions Exceptional customer service skills and ability to handle sensitive cargo with care Detail‑oriented mindset required Must have a TWIC card or be eligible to obtain a TWIC card within 90 days, if required Hazmat required No positive drug or alcohol test result in the past 5 years No accident involving bodily injury within the last three years No DUI/DWI, reckless driving or speeding tickets 12 mph or higher in the past 5 years PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of a shuttle driver, the employee is required to sit for extended periods while operating a commercial vehicle. The employee must use hands and fingers to operate a steering wheel, controls, GPS devices, and other on‑board equipment. The role also requires the ability to reach with hands and arms, climb in and out of the cab and trailer, and occasionally stoop, kneel, bend, or crouch during inspections, coupling/uncoupling, or loading/unloading activities. The employee must be able to communicate effectively using verbal and hearing skills, often via CB radio or mobile devices. Vision requirements include the ability to see at a distance for safe driving, as well as close vision for reading documents, using electronic logs, and performing inspections. Frequently carry, push, or pull freight weighing 1–125 pounds Lift up to 50 pounds Frequently reach for freight at waist level and occasionally above shoulder height or below waist level Shift manual transmission and operate foot pedals, not applicable on all trucks Frequently squat or crouch to handle and position freight Climb in and out of the truck 4 to 6 feet, 8 to 10 times daily with assistance of various steps and handholds; occasionally bending, twisting, climbing, squatting, crouching and balancing Conduct pre‑trip inspection Fuel vehicles and check engine oil/coolant levels, perform preventative maintenance Must be able to spend at least 5% of day standing and 5% of the day walking on surfaces such as wood, metal and concrete; surface may sometimes be slippery or wet Must be able to reach above shoulder level, at waist level and below waist level for maneuvering and directing the controls to operate the truck WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of a driver, the employee may be exposed to diesel fumes, airborne particles, and occasionally harsh weather conditions while loading or unloading. The work environment includes time spent both inside the truck cab–which may involve extended periods of sitting and exposure to engine noise and vibration–and outside at customer sites, terminals, or on public roadways. Noise levels can vary from quiet inside the cab to moderate or loud at delivery or pick‑up locations. BASE PAY The expected base pay range is $28.00 – $30.00 hourly, which includes overnight shift differential. Actual compensation will be determined based on job‑related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
