Food Scientist I

Job Title: Food Scientist I Location: Wall, NJ area Type: Direct Hire Compensation: $65,000 - $70,000 Contractor Work Model: Onsite – onsite Hours: 8:30 AM - 5 PM Security Clearance: N/A Responsibilities Conduct research and product development activities in the food and pet food industry. Bring key skills and knowledge in generating new product ideas, processing concepts from idea to final production startup, and spearheading new technology development for extruded and injection-molded products. Collaborate with sales, marketing, and regulatory teams to develop product concepts. Work with Operations, Quality, and Regulatory teams to commercialize products, develop specifications, and arrange for guaranteed analysis. Review packaging proofs for package weight, ingredients, guarantee analysis, and claims; participate in package review processes. Source raw materials based on product requirements. Develop formulas and prototypes; conduct analytical tests, shelf‑life studies, and clinical trials. Compile documentation for regulatory compliance and company policies. Perform product testing to ensure safety, quality, and regulatory adherence. Identify and implement manufacturing process improvements for efficiency and product quality. Ensure adherence to best practices, regulations, and company policies. Monitor and communicate pet food industry trends and their impact to management. Requirements B.S. or higher degree in Food Science or related discipline. Previous product development experience in the food/pet food industry. Working knowledge of FDA, USDA, AFFCO, and related regulations. Experience using Design of Experiments, statistical analysis, and interpreting results. Must be detail‑oriented, organized, and possess strong communication skills.
