Lead Housekeeper

Housekeeping Worker – Lead Location: Northern VA Mental Health Inst Agency: Dept Behavioral Health/Develop Job Duties NVMHI has an exciting new opportunity for a team member to work the evening shift in our housekeeping department as a full‑time Team Leader with benefits to serve as a working supervisor. The leader will inspect the housekeeping workers’ work to ensure cleanliness standards are met, make recommendations to the Supervisor and Director on all housekeeping issues, train new employees in proper cleaning methods and floor care, continuously monitor safety practices, and assist in maintaining a cleaning program to ensure the Institute is always in compliance with JCAHO and DOJ standards as well as any other inspection program. The successful candidate must be able to lift, stoop, bend, pull, push, reach, and stand for an extended period of time, have knowledge of cleaning methods and tools, be capable of following oral and written instructions, and communicate effectively with all levels of NVMHI staff. The Team Leader may perform other duties as assigned. Shift Hours 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm, evening shift with alternating weekends. Minimum Qualifications Ability to lift, stoop, bend, pull, push, reach and stand for extended periods of time. Knowledge of cleaning methods and use of cleaning supplies and equipment. Ability to perform a variety of cleaning tasks. Ability to follow oral instructions. Additional Considerations Working knowledge of cleaning methods, chemicals, and equipment. Demonstrate ability to lead the work of others. Ability to move and lift heavy objects. Ability to communicate well with others. Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculation. Knowledge of floor and carpet care including stripping/waxing, buffing, and extracting/shampooing carpets.
