Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the New Adventures 4 You Day Habilitation Program as they develop life skills, social connections, and community involvement through engaging daily activities. Responsibilities Build positive, respectful relationships with the individuals served. Help participants work toward the goals in their person-centered support plans. Lead and take part in recreational, educational, vocational, and community-based activities. Encourage independence while providing individualized support as needed. Assist with personal care while preserving each person's dignity and privacy. Support participants during community outings, volunteer activities, and recreational events. Promote communication, social skills, decision-making, and self-advocacy. Maintain a safe, clean, welcoming environment. Complete daily documentation and electronic service notes accurately. Communicate effectively with supervisors, families, guardians, case managers, and other team members. Respond appropriately during emergencies using approved procedures. Follow all Medicaid Waiver, CARF, HIPAA, and DDSi policies. Requirements High school diploma or GED. At least 18 years of age. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to pass required background screenings. Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certification (training provided). Preferred Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities (preferred, not required — training is provided). Physical requirements Standing and walking throughout the day. Assisting individuals with mobility when necessary. Lifting up to 50 pounds. Bending, reaching, and transferring individuals using safe techniques.
