Lead Transmission Line Engineer

Overview Lead Transmission Line Engineer role involves managing a collaborative team within a fast‑paced environment to design high‑voltage electric transmission lines from 34.5 kV to 765 kV. The engineer applies NESC, ASCE, ACI, NEC, and other applicable standards to both capital and maintenance projects. The position requires overseeing engineering analyses, PLS‑CADD modeling, structure loading calculations, foundation design (MFAD/LPILE), framing and hardware design, drafting plans and specifications, and creating bills of materials and procurement documents across all project phases. Location Hybrid work with potential remote work for candidates in Pennsylvania, Ohio, or West Virginia. Relocation assistance may be available. Challenge Direct multiple design teams simultaneously on various projects. Develop engineers through training, coaching and mentorship. Supervise staff by approving timesheets and conducting the annual performance review process. Participate proactively as a member of the Transmission Line Section leadership team. Create responses to RFPs, RFIs and RFQs, including proposal creation and scope definition. Employ a growth mindset to foster creative problem‑solving for complex client issues. Promote continuous improvement and innovation via automation and new tools. Delegate tasks, forecast workload and support recruiting to meet growth goals. Drive quality control processes to ensure highest delivery quality. Build and maintain client relationships to facilitate business development. Manage portfolio health, working with project managers to maintain scope, schedule and budget. What Sets You Apart (Required) Bachelor’s degree in Civil (preferred) or Mechanical Engineering and 8+ years of experience in high‑voltage utility transmission system design. Expertise in PLS‑CADD and PLS‑POLE. Engineer in Training (EIT) certification. Ability to work effectively in a team and independently. Strong communication skills as primary client point of contact. Business acumen and record of achieving key project performance metrics. Availability for occasional travel and potential onsite work. Passion for staff development through mentoring. Favorable If You Have 2+ years of supervising staff. M.S. degree in Structural Engineering. Experience with TOWER. P.E. certification or ability to achieve within 6 months. Experience with LPILE or FAD, Mathcad, AutoCAD or MicroStation, and GIS. Benefits Competitive salary ranging from $92,300 to $166,850 based on experience and role.
